((the Guest, giddy from her conversation with PeePeeDoc, was glad they had put those doubts to bed. She hadn't slept well. Spent some time crying silently into her pillow and doing all the drama that goes hand in hand with her sex. It's all that extra X chromosome, you see! While it offers super powers of multitasking, it robs the owner of objectivity and reason. She somehow felt relieved though. It's almost as those expectations were set clear, and there was no room for any ambiguity. She rearranged her emotions into tiny jars and placed them in a neat row in her parietal cortex. She took a step back to admire the arrangement. The bottles looked impressive: LOVE, LUSK, DESIRE, DUTY, GREED, IMPATIENCE, JEALOUSY, FORGIVENESS..... she took a felt pen and corrected the spelling error. Lust. There. That looked correct. It was heartening to see that none of them were empty. Her house looked messier than her mind. A whole chacuteries of meat lay on the table, freshly purchased from the butcher, who had saved up enough smoked meat for the cold winters of VolgaGrad. She would have to prepare something special for her babies at night....it was a Sunday, their expectations were always high on Sundays! She kept the thought aside and settled down with her ink pen and parchment paper, ready to pen a letter to her favourite PeePeeDoc.
((My dearest PeePeeDoc,
Since we are combing skeletons in and outside our closets, I thought I should share a short discourse of my opinions on marriage. Maybe this is the #wedge that you have been looking for? I know our cultures differ in these matters, but cultural views aside, I think age has taught me alot.
When I got married 14 years ago it was after knowing my husband intimately for 10 years. It was unheard in Russia to be so close to a man for that amount of years without a marriage, but our parents who were mildly concerned, swallowed their apprehensions and allowed it to play out. So in Dec 2011 I married my husband, a fine man, in a religious ceremony in front of several hundreds, with the excited Russian aristocracy looking on. It was a beautiful wedding, and I was on top of the world. Three years and two kids later, alot of things happened where my husband fell in love with another Count and I was too obstinate to see reason. Now what is life if we do not learn from our experiences? So, dear PeePeeDoc, my views of marriage changed with time. I realised that monogamy/ monoandry are unreal concepts. In countries far far away, other religions like Islam and Hinduism, in fact, do not promote them. They understand the limitations of single sexual and emotional partners are going against the order of the animal kingdom, and in fact aren't as stifling as the Greek Orthodox Church that we are members of! So today as it stands, I feel like a character out of Anna Karenina......Anna loves Dnyanovich, Dnyanovich loves Nimishosky, Nimishovsky is aware of Dnyanovich's current unavailability, Count Gregorio loves Nimishovsky.....it's like the stuff that novels can be made of. And then the novel becomes a ballet, and travels with the Imperial troop to far off lands, many centuries later, to perform in port cities by the Arabian Sea, where a young mother will go watch it with her little son. But long story short, since, quite similar to you, I also am always short of candles, (I've heard in alternate galaxies there are invisible ways in which you can order things and they come to you in the Blinkit of an eye!), today as it stands, I feel marriage in invaluable for the legitimacy of children and their inheritance. But beyond that it is an unnatural farcical state created by the Christian lobby to control mankind. I pray this concept does not get perpetuated the world over, and that older religions can stand by their beliefs and resist these oppressive laws.
Always,
Madame D
((The Guest gently blows out the candle. It is an obstinate one, casting and irregular shadow on the beige wall behind her. She takes her forefinger and thumb, and decisively stubs it out. She whistles to call the tiny Puffin to her window, and her scroll to it's foot. "PeePeeDoc" she whispers in his ear, and watches him fly dutifully out of the window.))
