Life, and all that is in it.

thank you

Hey Aaaaiiiii

I wanted to say thank you for wishing me happy birthday and sending me the gift of the short story in advance. I am honoured.

#Nazi - Khaled is Algerian

He wrote a lovely song about Abdel Qader, who was a Algerian revolutionary, who fought against the French in the 1800's, ultimately dying at their hands. He also wrote Didi and Aicha. Aicha was covered by another band, called Outlandish, who made it more soulful and I used to play Aicha for sick kids on my first PDA (personal data assistant) that I had in 2006-07 while a resident in Paediatric Surgery. They used to tolerate the IV better. :-).

#funfact - when Catholic Spain removed all Muslims AND JEWS between 1492 and 1608, most Muslims crossed the strait of Gibralter and went over to Morocco. Many Muslims of Morocco have Spanish heritage and many Spanish have moorish heritage from the Arab conquest and rule which lasted from 700 to 1492. Tariq bin Zeyad was the person who crossed the strait and famously Burnt His Boats, saying they wouldn't return. This started roughly 800 years of 'Muslim' rule in Spain. Twice the Muslims tried to cross the Pyrenees and enter Gaul - but were defeated. Central rule from Madrid ended around 1192, and what remained were the Taifa states, so named because they kept squabbling and fighting amongst themselves, until the Pope ordered King Ferdinand to take over the Central Rule of Spain and Portugal after he married the Queen of Portugal. You know what else happened that year, 1492? Columbus set sail for America after receiving a Royal Grant for Three Ships and men.

Rest well. Hope the boys are doing well!
