reply to the reply to the Spider (part 2)
Why does he say only Islam is the Truth? Why doesn't he says only God is the truth?
No, Islam is NOT the ONLY truth. There are so many scriptures that preach the same things with little variation. Why would I quote from the Bible, if I didn't believe it to be true?
There are two points which arise from this
Would one prefer an authentic, verified source for news, information and guidance? Yes. Hence, when it comes to sensitive matters (prayer, fasting, inheritance, laws, etc.) go to the authentic source (Quran). When there are less sensitive matters, go to any source you like - with the caveat, that it cannot supercede the Quran.
Islam is a codified way of life. Hence there's a way to speak, a way to stand, a way to eat, a way to walk, a way to pray (compulsory prayers), etc. It's our choice what to follow as long as we have the fundamentals right. And the fundamental is ONLY one thing - that we Worship Allah alone, calling on Him with all His wondrous names, and that we ACCEPT that the Beloved Prophet (PBUH) was the final Messenger.
The second part is important because - we have to accept the Quran as final, we have to accept that there will be no Prophet, hence what is basic will not change. It doesn't mean that we cannot do new things - like travel by plane, use the internet, or go in a submarine - as long as the broad contours of the religion are respected.
