Life, and all that is in it.

every 'thing' is a condom

When someone says, 'condom,' the first thing that comes to mind is the prevention of unwanted pregnancies, diseases, fun(!). The average time a condom is used is 5-13 minutes, and manufacturers do not recommend use for over 30 minutes. What happens to the condom after that? The term, 'used like a condom,' comes to mind. 'Used and thrown.'

For every material thing in life, on a different time scale, the same holds true. 'Used and thrown.' Expand the scale to hours, think of food, movie tickets, stadium passes. Expand to days to weeks, think of food (again), some clothes, household items (sprays, brooms, magazines). Take the time scale of months to years, and most of life's possessions fall into the basket of, 'used and thrown.' Clothes, most (not all) books, cars, furniture, curtains, utensils, crockery, carpets, all replaced, all used and thrown. Talk decades, and everything in the world is used and thrown. Houses, apartments, torn down and rebuilt, buildings, factories, hospitals, universities, all torn down and replaced, or so radically modified that they are unrecognisable. What part of Mumbai was once called Girangaon? (Mill Village?) Lower Parel. What is it now? And then over centuries - entire empires, civilisations, gone. Used and thrown.

But for humans, the story is different.

There is a Hereafter that awaits, wherein reward and punishment will be given in unequal measure - since the Merciful God will favour rewards much more than punishment on the scale of deeds. No good deed is ever used and thrown.
