everything ends
Absolutely true. Everything ends. And everything repeats itself. Like you said, man is the repeating ape.
It sounds weird to say this: i often envy people who die. They are put out of the misery of this world. I can never understand how people go through so much physical pain to survive. I don't have it in me I'm the biggest coward. I don't think I could live with a stoma, or the pain of a major surgery. Or persecution in a war, or torture in a chamber, or rape. I would gladly close my eyes and resign myself to the end. I have had the best life God ordained for me, there is no doubt about that, and all my loved ones will know I have enjoyed my life, and should remember me fondly and move on. I just can't bear physical pain. Which is why I admire communities that have withstood atrocities to uphold their faith eg. the Hazaras in Afghanistan. I would not be able to do it. I don't think life is worth it.
Did you finish Born a Crime? Honestly let me know what you thought of it. I would love to discuss it with you. I have got my hands on the children's version, and am reading it to the boys every night. They are shocked about apartheid and then I told them, our caste system was very very much exactly the same. Yesterday being Ambedkar Jayanti made it even more relevant. I told them our great great great grandfathers would have ill treated a person just by the poor lottery of his birth, and made him clean his toilets amongst many many other atrocities. So yes, learning from history is important. But expecting all apes to learn, is impossible. They simply don't have the IQ.
But you and i know better.
What is your day like OB? Fine joy in the clouds and the flowers. Nature is always there, a silent spectator to our follies.
In other news, this photo sums up my passions perfectly. Medicine and music intertwined in one shot:) (this is the treble cleff sign in music)
