Life, and all that is in it.

day 3 vietnam

And early morning in Saigon, meant a 4.15am wake up, a rush to the airport and a 7.30 internal flight to Da Nang in Central Vietnam. We took a Grab Cab (uber equivalent) to Ha Noi, a UNESCO world heritage sight, often called the "ancient city." It was 45 DEGREES outside, but Aai and OB were undaunted. They set off with the boys for a cooking lesson with a local Vietnamese lady who made them into temporary chefs. Aai has mentally promised to make this for OB should their paths cross again: Vietnamese spring rolls, chicken salad, fish in some divine sauce served with steamed rice and Bokchoi. What a treat! This was followed by a coconut boat ride through the backwaters and some fishing, where the boys caught some crabs and then released them back into their mud slides after their competition was complete. Back in the room it is a balmy 35 degrees and I feel a sheet of sweat mixed with humidity sitting on my arms. The kind of feeling you get in a tropical country when the entire city is a sauna. I love this adventurer's feel. The Airbnb is so quaint albeit a bit run down. The airconditioning is poor, so it's definitely making the heat seem more!

If you were here, your face would be so red, you would look like a lobster in heat;)

I'm planning on taking the boys to a sports bar where we will have cokes while they watch a bit of their precious Monaco GP finals today. I've never been to a sports bar myself, so well....first time for everything. Monaco is a city CIRCUIT so it fits the bill to host a GP. #nazi

How are you OB van kanobe? I imagine very closely how you must be doing, how you must be eating, how you must be feeling? Sometimes i feel you so strongly that I imagine for a fleeting second, you might be missing me too;)

How is the family holding up in your absence? Hope you are getting to touch base with them.

Sweet dreams and sending you loads of luck from Hoi An. You are in my minutely prayers. This place is a tropical paradise, you must visit some day.
