and the winner is...
Hey Aaaaiiii,
That was so sweet - the Sunday morning blog. So lovely!
I woke up at 5 a.m. - prayed, then reflected on something, then it started raining. Have you seen dawn when it's raining? The night doesn't want to go, so it cries, and the morning doesn't want to hurt it, so the light comes slowly... I sat on the porch and watched the leaves dance to the tune of falling drops. I woke up Saba 5 times to ask her to enjoy the morning, I was sixth time lucky. By that time the rain had stopped, and puddles bore witness to the earlier downpour. And now the birds are out, making up for lost time. How often does a sparrow feed in a day? How often does it need to get 'stuff' from the 'market' for repairs of the nest? A veritable 'Home Depot.'
About Hala - it wasn't the T-shirt or dress that made my eyes water, it was the fact that somewhere, a father had to let his dear daughter leave to join a tuition centre far from home, and one day, I might be that father. Ameen.
I loved the piece about the Toilet. To be honest I wanted to write something similar which I had titled, 'S(h)it in Comfort.' I thought it would be too gross, but you 'beat' me to it... Competitive! Oh yes, absolutely!
I don't do much of homework with the kids. I am a stay-at-home-and-do-nothing Dad. I believe that my 'fantastic company' and 'immense intelligence' will rub off on them and they'll grow up just fine. Of course, that's just my fantasy. I need to do lots more, I am acutely aware, and I have promised myself that I will work harder to spend more active and productive time with them.
I still have a nasal twang. I could record a song and ruin it for a generation. Imagine my nasal voice in the heads of people listening to 'Unbreak my Heart' by Toni Braxton. Oooouuuuccchhh(ooo)!
Have a good Sunday, with random bits of paper, and abstract sums, and invisible notes of music wafting through the air, a cacophony of Sunday morning life.
We live till we live. Then we don't live.
